So far, we are off to a good start to the school year. Everyone's getting up, I'm making breakfast and lunch every day, and all the homework is getting done. The kids have a new bus this year, and it's like riding in a limo compared to good old 922, which we assume has gone to the big bus barn in the sky.
- Is loving middle school so far.
- On the first day, he told me all about his science teacher's fully stocked science closet. He can't wait to use some of the equipment.
- Eats first lunch now.
- Did not go to the book fair this year because I bought him the book he wanted at Emma's Back to School night--Catching Fire. "I didn't really look for books," he told me. "I had 45 whole minutes to read!" He finished the book in one night and a school day.
- Was assigned to 6A math.
- Has quite a bit more homework than last year.
- Still usually the first one up. I make him breakfast this year, but he gets ready fast to have "me time" in the morning before school. Usually spends that time reading or playing with LEGO.
- Is beyond giddy to have Stella, Julianna, Maya, and Alison in her class. Sits across from Julianna. That could get chatty.
- Hates having to wear a uniform, especially the black leather sneakers.
- Loves her teacher.
- Moved up to the classrooms in the annex.
- Very proud to have her own assignment book just like Jake's.
- Does her homework every night.
- Gets up a 6:30 for a 7:47 bus because she takes a while to get going in the morning.
- Not loving the "no TV on school nights" rule.
- Agreed to wear a ray shirt on the first day because "Well, I like sharks. But I do like rays, too. There are lots of cool rays. And they are related to sharks!"
- NO TEARS THIS YEAR!!!!
- Has only gone twice due to flooding and a funeral.
- Was the leader this week--he brought two books (Commotion in the Ocean and Shark vs. Train) and his right whale.
